While it is entirely appropriate to contest WfS views on education it is also worth noting that the attack on teachers unions as a major cause of the crisis in public education is the same as attacking the UAW for the problems in the auto industry. The ones who attack teachers’ unions today for “protecting” ineffective teachers attacked industrial unions for “protecting”unproductive workers. YES-unions protect workers from employers-that is their very necessary job. And just like in industry those with wealth and power have run the schools into the ground and now want to blame the workers-big surprise!
